Leading Contributor to Nepal’s SSF

Kathmandu, Nov 26: The Seventh Social Security Day was celebrated with a grand ceremony in Kathmandu, marking the seventh anniversary of the contribution-based social security scheme introduced on November 27, 2018. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli graced the event as the Chief Guest, alongside other dignitaries, stakeholders, and contributors.

This year, the event highlighted the achievements of the Social Security Fund (SSF), which has registered approximately 1.8 million workers from formal, informal, foreign, and self-employment sectors under its social security umbrella. The SSF has so far reimbursed Rs. 11.62 billion in claims to 180,922 workers and holds deposits amounting to Rs. 68.68 billion.

One of the key moments of the program was the government’s recognition of Frontline Consult Pvt. Ltd. as one of the highest contributors to the Social Security Fund (SSF) of its industry kind. The company received an award for its significant contribution to the scheme, underscoring its commitment to social welfare and employee security.

Speaking on the occasion, Kabiraj Adhikari, Executive Director of the SSF, acknowledged the role of leading contributors like Frontline Consult Pvt. Ltd. in strengthening Nepal’s social security system. “Their efforts inspire other organizations to join hands in ensuring the social protection of employees across all sectors,” he said.

The contribution-based social security scheme operates various programs, including medical treatment, health and maternity benefits, accident and incapacity coverage, dependent family member support, and old-age security schemes. By recognizing exemplary contributors, the government aims to encourage more organizations to actively participate in the scheme and promote a culture of social security in Nepal.
